Privacy Policy
Effective Date: June 2026
1. Introduction
We built VolumeMax to enhance your audio, not to harvest your data. We strictly adhere to the Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies. We do not collect, store, sell, or transmit your personal data, browsing history, or audio streams.
2. How Your Audio is Handled
To function, this extension uses the Web Audio API to process sound locally on your machine.
- We request the
tabCapturepermission solely to route the audio from your active tab through our local equalizer and volume nodes. - We use the
offscreenpermission because Manifest V3 requires background audio processing to happen in an isolated, local offscreen document.
Your audio stream is processed instantly in your device's memory and is discarded the moment you close the tab or disable the extension. Audio is never recorded, saved to disk, or sent over the internet.
3. Permissions Justification
activeTab&tabs: Used to identify which specific tab you are currently viewing and list audible tabs so we can apply the volume boost to the correct page. We only read the tab ID and status; we do not read the page content or your history.storage: Used exclusively to save your slider positions (e.g., volume level, Bass Boost toggle) locally on your device viachrome.storage.local.*://*.workers.dev/*(Host Permission): We make a background network request solely to validate your Pro license key against our Cloudflare Worker API. No personal data or browsing activity is sent in this request.
4. Analytics and Third Parties
We do not use any third-party tracking scripts, and we do not inject affiliate links or adware into the websites you visit. Payment processing for Pro features is handled entirely by a secure, external Merchant of Record (Paddle), which has its own privacy policy.
